Yes it is possible :). A friend of mine played it smart during the HSC and didn't really take scaling to his advantage (e.g. picking 4U maths) but instead, picked easy subjects and managed to top them. Scaling didn't affect him, and he received quite a high UAI.

So don't be in doubt if you're not doing the high scaling subjects, do your best and top them whilst competing with the state. Do what the above post says :p.

Oh, and btw, I'm also not smart.

What do you mean by "good" UAI?

All I can say is that it is possible to get 100 UAI with most of the subject combination.

In the end, if you do really well in other subjects, General Mathematics won't even count towards your UAI, you know. (if you have 12 or more Units).

Good luck.

As someone once said to me, 100 always scales to 100.

So if you do well in the exams, you'll always get a good UAI.

Bottom line is ... do the very best you can do. Everything else is outside your control, so there's not much point stressing about it.

You guys do realise that the person that topped the HSC for General Maths last year got a UAI of around 98-99.

I'm just putting that out there.

Actually, thats not 100% true. Some subjects are capped so even a 100 raw mark would not be 100.

But to the OP. Yes you can do well with general maths (as everyone on here has already said)

lol heaps of people on this website earned 95 + uais with General Maths, though they had other high scaling subjects like English ext 2 with them.

Actually, I think that most people who get 90+ uai do General Maths. simply because theres less stress I suppose
